WHAT IS STERLING SILVER?
Sterling Silver is an alloy created when copper is added to pure silver in order to make the resulting compound more durable and less soft containing 92.5% by weight of silver and 7.5% by weight of other metals, usually copper. The sterling silver standard has a minimum millesimal fineness of 925.
HOW TO IDENTIFY IF ITS STERLING SILVER?
The easiest way to tell if sterling silver is real is by finding the imprint on your piece. Rings, necklaces, and bracelets made of sterling silver will have a “925” stamp somewhere.
